The SEN Update: SEN Wins Challengers Weekend!
What’s up Sentinels? Welcome back to another edition of the SEN UPDATE.
This week, we’re talking about Sentinels Valorant winning the first Valorant Champions Tour Challengers Weekend, the announcement of Surefour, and upcoming events and in the news highlights!
Let’s dive in.
VALORANT WINS FIRST CHALLENGERS WEEKEND OF THE VCT
Early on, the Sentinels’ backs were up against the wall.
After qualifying as a finalist for the first Challengers Circuit weekend with seven other teams the week prior, Sentinels fell flat in the quarterfinals versus Luminosity, losing 2-0. However, the team responded with a fury.
Being forced down to the lower bracket, Sentinels made a run that eliminated four straight teams (Andbox, Gen.G, XSET and Luminosity) while securing a spot in the grand finals versus Immortals. Despite having to overcome a map disadvantage by way of qualifying via the lower bracket, the team, led by Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan, dominated Immortals and came away victorious in a 3-1 margin.
As a result, Sentinels earned the top $20,000 prize, as well as a ticket straight into the second Challengers Tour weekend played on Feb. 18-21.
Streaming details, as well as a full match schedule, will be announced closer to the event.
SENTINELS ANNOUNCE ARRIVAL OF SUREFOUR
Last week, the Sentinels announced a new content creator and streamer for the organization in Lane “Surefour” Roberts!
The move to becoming a full-time content creator and streamer is preceded by an illustrious professional Overwatch career, which saw Surefour compete for the Los Angeles Gladiators and Toronto Defiant across the first three years of the Overwatch League’s existence. Surefour also represented Canada in the Overwatch World Cup four times, winning a silver medal in 2017 and bronze in 2018.
Always a fan favorite, Surefour continued to build his massive Twitch following, which stands at nearly 350,000 followers strong, throughout his professional career. Now retired from pro play, Surefour streams a variety of titles including Valorant and Apex Legends, both of which the Sentinels compete in.
Please give a warm welcome to Surefour by following the new Sentinel on Twitch!
